From lakes to mountains

Today we gradually leave the lake district behind and head deeper into the Alps. The route takes us over rolling roads and through wide valleys, as the landscape slowly shifts from soft and green to rugged and more dramatic.

We drive through historic regions and follow routes that have linked mountain areas for centuries. The roads are varied and flowing, ideal for enjoying your sports car and travelling together as a group.

In the late afternoon we reach our hotel at the foot of the high mountains, perfectly placed for the highlight of the rally the next day.

From Alpine peaks to white gold

After a leisurely breakfast we leave the high peaks behind and head north for a dive into the history of this region: salt mining.

A beautiful route takes us towards the Salzwelten salt mines. As the landscape slowly changes from rugged rock formations to rolling green hills, we reach the mountain area where this 'white gold' has been mined for centuries.

On arrival we swap our everyday clothes for white miners' overalls and descend into the cool depths of the mountain. The morning is all about adventure and history: we slide down wooden miners' slides, cross a mysterious underground salt lake by boat and see up close how these mines shaped the wealth and development of the region for centuries.

After this remarkable underground visit we bring the CCRally Austrian Alps to a close. There is time for a final chat and to share memories, before everyone heads off on their own way home.
