The smugglers' route, endless corners and a royal stay
Our journey begins at a remarkable spot: a former farmstead that once served as a smuggling route between Belgium and the Netherlands. Goods and stories changed hands here, well out of sight of the customs posts. Today it is the perfect starting point for our rally, with a lunch full of character and local produce.
After lunch we fire up the engines and leave the border behind. The first route is pure enjoyment. Rolling hills, views across the valleys and endless corners invite you to drive with spirit, but at a relaxed pace. We stop off in a historic little town with charming streets and an impressive view over the surrounding countryside, a chance to soak up the atmosphere and stretch your legs.
In the late afternoon, perfectly surfaced mountain roads lead us to our base for the night: a magnificent château offering 5-star luxury. The rooms are super deluxe, with every comfort of a top hotel. In the evening we sit down to a fine-dining meal of refined regional dishes. After that the evening is yours: unwind in the bar, relax in the lounge or enjoy the spa.
